DARTS AROUND ESSEX   January 2005

First, a happy and prosperous New Year to all……..

A Bullseye Charity Night at the Little ‘n’ Large Family Club in Wickford raised money for the following charities: Little Haven Hospice (£175), Heart of Darts (£100) and Beach Hut Appeal (£75).

Owner Derek Freeman wishes to express his thanks to Tony Green, the referee, and to Steve Maish the Professional who managed to stay calm under pressure to win the money for the chosen charities. Both stars gladly gave their services for the night and had plenty of time for the crowd for photos and autographs. The event consisted of 13 pairs who answered two questions in the first round, this was narrowed down to 4 pairs after some very high scores then just 2 pairs remained to compete in the final they consisted of Paul Everson and Dave Smith the eventual winners on the night but gallant losing finalist were Debbie Vidgeon and Lana Manton (who don’t even play darts) it just goes to show you can’t beat a bit of bully!!!  Paul & David went forward to Bully’s prize board and won an amazing 8 out of 9 prizes including bully’s special prize.  Then they were asked the fateful question would you like to gamble after much cheering from the crowd they decided to go for it.  Dave threw first scoring a great sixty leaving Paul the dart player just 41 to get.  With the first dart he scored 20, with his second dart just five, now the pressure was on with 16 needed, Paul held his nerve with a twenty. Out came the star prize, a 12v Rally Car, and after a great night’s entertainment enjoyed by all, Paul & Dave generously gave the car up so it could be auctioned.
