2011 Summer League Below
PRESENTATION NIGHT
Another successful year was concluded with the annual
presentation night. Many thanks to all those who helped in the set-up at the
Writtle Club, especially Derek Lodge and Dave Elliott. Once again, many thanks
to Keith & Julia Hemsworth and Douglas White for doing the raffle and raising
£227 pounds for the league, which helped claw back some of the monies which I'd
over spent on Trophies... Ian Waller assisted Chairman Matt Doe to dish out the
trophies, and thanks to all the teams that were there to ensure I didn't have
too many to take home!
There were six teams that didn't have a representative, Black Bull, Galleywood
SC 'A', Ingatestone CC, Railway Hotel, Tulip and White Horse.
The league handed over a Cheque to the "HEART OF DARTS" for £1,100, plus Ian
picked up many of the cash prizes from players who decided to donate their
winnings, also Neil Yates who donated £50. The £1,100 was made up of a donation
from the Brentwood league, the Cherry Tree B (from BBDDL), plus donations from
Lorraine Hudson, Alan Carrington, Steve & Chris Boret who all donated their
trophy monies, plus the match vs Wickford and the Reg Atkins Competition, and
the competition entries. Good luck to all for the next 12 months.

vs Wickford & District Inter-League Charity
Challenge Match: The first ever inter-league match vs Wickford was a win for Ingatestone...
Both teams had players pulling out at the last minute, Wickford suffered more
than Ingatestone, however both teams fielded teams that gave a superb quality
game of darts...

beat double 180 hitting Simon Royce 2-0; Matt Garrett scored 2 maximums winning
2-1 and Robbie Turner & Martin Compton won 2-0... Wickford took two of the next
3 with Tony Lambert our only winner... Wickford then pulled in-front 5-4,
winning the next 3 games... Wins from Robbie Turner and Martin Compton pulled
the scores level at 6-6; as IDDL struggled to win a pairs match... IDDL than
pulled in-front, winning the next 3 games, John Wastenage won 2-1 and scored a
180, Richard Howson won 2-0 and Peter Wiffen & Adam Miller won 2-0 in the
pairs... Wickford once again pulled level as the IDDL lost all 3 games... the
IDDL won the next 3 to go 12-9 ahead as Harry Smith won 2-0, Andrew Kateley won
2-1 and Mel Sylvester & Senan Corry won 2-0... Jamie Uzzell won 2-0 and was the
only winner in this section of the match leaving the match score 13-11 to
IDDL... Alan Carrington (2-1) and Steve Boret (2-0) ensured at least a draw as
again Ingatestone lost a pairs game, and therefore 15-12 going into the final 3
games... Steve Haggerty and Matt Doe both won 2-0, and Richard Howson (180) &
Craig Vickers won 2-1 to give Ingatestone a 18-12 overall victory... A very
sporting and friendly evening was had by all, I think Wickford will be a lot
stronger next year when Ingatestone visit Wickford (venue to be announced), and
I'm looking forward to the return match and hope that the IDDL players will
support the event...

REG ATKINS MEMORIAL CUP:
A poor turn-out, but that didn't stop the fun and with 10 debutants it was
somewhat a different competition than in previous years. It felt right that the
only two players who'd played in all competitions since it's conception & knew
Reg well, ended up finishing 1st and 2nd, and with the only female player, won
the team event. Mark Banham took the title
with 5,840 points with Kevin Stammers coming 2nd with 5,762. The Independents
being Mark, Kevin and Danielle Tebbutt took the
Team title with 5,574 average points. The Rising Sun Cockles Dave Hickson came
3rd overall with 5,740; Dave & Kevin along with Ed Sewell were trying to
throw the most darts in the 16 minutes... Dave won that contest with 143 throws.
Matt Doe was the only player to score a 180, and that was on the Champion Choice
Board... Visit the Reg
Atkins page to view all the
tables and
results in full. Mark Banham has now
qualified for the Champion of Champions on 16th September...
